Re-wrote the script. Harris is reading it as we speak and we should get an answer by Monday. Knowing that it got into her hands means the agent thinks it's good for. Set is still a problem though. We found this really creepy wooden house, isolated and surrounded by creepy as trees. Fuck it's perfect. Diego talked to the owner and she seems pretty cool about us shooting our exteriors there. Diego is at Atlanta right now with Josh (producer) making sure the make-up is alright. Jenny is flying tomorrow to get her body molded.

It's funny, but since doing my movie I've been knee deep in independent horror movies...and I mean INDEPENDENT. Shit like Darkness (vampire movie not the one you think) and Bone Sickness. Jesus...these movies look like they were made by make-up artists and only care about the effects. God damn Fulci really fucked up the horror community. He was such a hack.

Wow, I forgot this existed.

Well a lot has been going on. Diego and I got a producer and a better than decent budget for our next film. I'm not going to say how much but yea...it's big!! We're casting now as we speak and our casting director is looking to get Dannielle Harris (Halloween 4 and 5) as our lead. She would fit the part perfectly. Still holding auditions though just in case the Livejournal community wants to swing by Multivision this Wednesday Thursday or Friday.

Everything is fucking awesome right now. We got Mark Malkabee to be our cinematographer and the man knows his shit. So much pressure working with him considering his age. Also got Toby Sells for make-up whose in the new Fangoria issue and did work for Planet of the Apes, Dark Remains and the new Takashi Miike remake coming out next year. He loved the script so decided to take half off the price. Woooo hooo!!

We need the lead and then we'll be set for the set.

Andres' Summer Movie Extravaganza

Sin City-

Crap! I’m sick of all these people using “it’s exactly like the comic book” excuses that comes out of there mouths. I want a movie….a film…a singular plot motivation for its being and not just cool images put together that have no coherence and that looked awkward in the end. Slow down, and take the time to tell the story next time! Also keep your style in check Sin City along with your attitude towards death!

Ring TwO-

Sure you were a little slower and not as epic looking as the first. But that’s a good thing. You were more personal and deeper focused at a central theme of parenthood. You were mature and your scares got the crowd jumping. Better make up would have helped but the cinematography and choice of shots were incendiary! I love the peanut butter eating scene…Samara really like peanut butter and jelly sandwiches.

Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith-

Good job! A Star Wars movie that felt like a Star Wars and an actual deep seeded anger and frustration under Lucas’s direction. Very personal and with the best CGI work I’ve ever seen. Horrible dialogue though but hey nobody’s perfect.

Haute Tension-

The movie Rob Zombie wish he could make. We get it Frenchies…gore happens and in this movie boy does it!

Oldboy-

This a long with Haute Tension I saw before this year, but fuck it, they were released this year (where’s Casshern you fucks??). Oldboy is pretty freaking sweet. Its Kill Bill…only in a good movie! Best damn fight scene I’d ever seen along with the greatest one take shot ever! I loved this movie. It was poetically violent and strongly moving: the kind of film that makes you reassess movie making and how it can change attitudes, moods and even lives!

Batman Begins-

Fuck yea! Greatest superhero movie ever made. Jaw dropping and amazingly entertaining in its most original and artistic way. I loved this movie. I love you Batman Begins. Please bring me more. I need you as a cure from the mundane and mediocre. This is probably the most personal popcorn movie ever made. Its not only an origin story but also a character analysis that had me jumping from my seat. I don’t know how any movie can be better than you this year.

War of the Worlds-

Dear Mr. Spielberg,
Stop shoving your self-indulgent crap down our throats. Stop treating everything like its all in the symbolism for the Holocaust and when you put as your title War of the Worlds for fuck sakes show me a war. Not Tom Cruise hiding in basements for 2 hours. You did have some good shots though. But that’s not enough to make a movie (see Sin City).

The Island-

Michael Bay's best work, which isn't saying much. Fun without being too stupid and some very good chase sequence. While it did go by pretty fast the film still held itself from explosion to explosion without being boring. He tried. We can tell he tried and I admire him for trying.

Willy Wonka-

Easily Tim Burton's best work since Ed Wood. Johnny Depp tried a bit too hard to be weird to satisfy Goths around the mall but Tim Burton’s direction has never felt more confident in his imagery without fucking up the story along with it.

Wedding Crashers-

I liked the movie when it was all balls and not this half ass attempt at a chick flick that’s not supposed to be there. Yes, I’m tired of the “the girl that changes my evil ways” formula that’s been plaguing our theaters for decades now. Get with the dirty stuff, thatswhat we want to see, not American Pie for adults. Piece of shit!

Land of the Dead-

Social commentary with zombies is good. Its even better in a REALLY GOOD MOVIE. Too bad it’s instead in a half decent movie with good gore effects. But still at least Romero tried and what a try this movie was. Felt big and epic even with its moderately low budget (less than half of the Dawn remake).

Mr. and Mrs. Smith-

Better than I thought it would be. Some clever writing and funny lines work well. The action is also very very exciting. By the end it all gets old though. I mean how many movies already had the whole fighting against faceless swat guys already?? Fuck that! Should have gone deeper in the war of roses motif too but that would have rated R… god forbid!

Warp Tour was a lot of fun. I really didn't expect that many people there to see us but there they were: singing and moshing along. It felt great. I thank all those kids from the bottom of my heart. You guys make it so freaking awesome.
